Stella Caelum Utsjoki 7.10.2025
Welcome to the STELLA CAELUM event in Utsjoki on 7.10.2025! We will turn the map upside down and look at the world from space and from the North. STELLA CAELUM is a new northern event about night sky phenomena, Aurora tourism and the possibilities of darkness.
The day will provide an opportunity to dive into the wonders of the northern skies. You can listen the thoughts of experts and professionals in the fields of astronomy, space science and Northern Lights tourism on the future possibilities of exploiting and experiencing the uniqueness of dark time. Darkness is an entrepreneur’s trusted partner and a restorative human resource – it always arrives on time!
The event is free of charge and held in English.

inspired by the darkness of the north
STELLA CAELUM Utsjoki is an event explaining darkness and night sky phenomena, which will take place for the first time on 7 October 2025 in Utsjoki. It will provide a unique opportunity to hear the contributions and insights of Finland’s top space science experts and Aurora tourism professionals on how to make the most of the dark days.
Enjoy the wonders of the Northern Sky and learn more about the world of stars. The day will be hosted by science journalist Jari Mäkinen and presented by prof. emer. Esko Valtaoja.
Our aim is to inspire people to face the darkness and encourage companies to develop new programme services. We want to highlight the potential of sky tourism and make the beauty of darkness visible. Darkness and the different levels of twilight are a resource for the future, a valuable part of everyday life in the North and a condition that affects our lives for half the year. Lightlessness has a key role to play in the living environment and also has a positive impact on people.
At the event, you can network, share ideas and take part in an evening Moonlight Walk with our stargazers (weather permitting).
The evening’s musical and cultural experience will be provided by local Sámi music superstar Hildá Länsman.
