The northern location, rich cultural heritage and natural resources of our municipalities are the basis for prosperity and sustainable economic growth.
Inari - The biggest and the most beautiful
Multicultural Inari is the largest municipality in Finland and one of the largest and most internationally active tourist municipalities.
Inari is located in the northernmost corner of the European Union, in the middle of the North Calotte. Due to its central location, Inari has been a cultural meeting point and a natural gateway to the Arctic Ocean and the Kola Peninsula throughout the ages. Ivalo International Airport offers fast connections to the rest of the world.
Inari municipality is visited by hundreds of thousands of tourists every year and the seasons vary smoothly according to the four wonderful seasons. The Saariselkä ski resort and the region’s magnificent nature attract tourists in all seasons. In the summer, people come to Inari for the summer nights; hiking, trekking and adventuring in the vast wilderness or fishing on Lake Inari.
In addition to tourism and its many ancillary services, other economic activities in the area include reindeer husbandry, fishing, forestry, education and other private service activities. Cold technology, in particular car and tyre testing, is also well established.

Utsjoki - Finland's northernmost
Arctic nature is Utsjoki’s biggest attraction and we want to take care of it. Nature is diverse and ever-changing according to the eight seasons. In summer, the nightless night lasts for a staggering 74 days, and in winter, the twilight of the dawn lasts for a full 52 days.
In a small community, there is resilience, strength and the will to build for the future, while maintaining a bond with tradition. Sámi crafts, music and traditional livelihoods such as reindeer husbandry are an important part of Utsjoki’s identity. They tell a story of life’s enduring connection with nature. Utsjoki borders on Norway and the services, experiences, attractions and the Arctic Ocean are just around the corner.
